Helicopter External Transport System (HETS)
Deluxe Evac Harness
This evacuation harness (“screamer suit”) is a personnel-carrying device system (PCDS) that is easy and quick to put on. It is designed to physically encompass the torso to prevent the person from inadvertently falling out of the PCDS, and is safe to use with disabled or unconscious persons. The harness is put on like a jacket—arms go through the armholes and a bottom flap comes up between the legs to a three-point connection terminating at an approved snap link for attachment to a winch cable hook or other external load suspension line system master attachment point (MAP).
The Deluxe Evac Harness is similar to Emergco’s Evac Harness, except that the deluxe model has grips along the top edge, flotation sew into the collar, and a hole in the seat to drain water.
Crewman Flight Harness
The Crewman Flight Harness is a personnel-carrying device system (PCDS) created specifically for aerial flight applications to provide maximum strength, comfort, durability, and ease of use. The harness incorporates Emergco’s superior method of weight distribution due to its unique design and full support on the leg straps. As a result, it is the first harness to combine the security of a full body harness with the comfort of a seat harness.
For fixed loadline operations (short-haul or Emergco’s Emergco’s Helicopter External Transport System), hoisting, or rappel operations, the harness has a front mid-sternum tri-link connection point. There’s also a back tri-link connection point for other uses, such as a safety line or lanyard. Two side tri-link connection points are provided for additional uses, such as by spotters on aircraft for attaching to an anchor point using a restraint lanyard. The connection points can also be used for work positioning.
The harness is put on like coveralls—legs through the leg loops and arms through the arm loops. The attachment loops on the ends of the chest straps are attached to a tri-link connector, which is the main connection point. Adjusters on the arm, leg, and waist straps allow the harness to be adjusted to any size. The harness is available on special order with quick-release adjusting buckles on the leg straps.
The harness can be used with a separately available inflatable personal floatation device (PFD) that connects to the harness using quick-connect fasteners.
The harness is an approved PCDS as part of Emergco’s Helicopter External Transport System (HETS), and is certified under Transport Canada Supplementary Type Certificate No: SH98-35. The harness meets all OHSA and NFPA standards for a full body harness.
