Helicopter Ops Gears

Premesh Cargo Nets

Premesh Cargo Nets are made with a 100% nylon twisted twine, knotted to form 2" squares (mesh size). Hardware supplied on the corners are 3 snap hooks and a pear ring. Lanyard lengths are 4-5' depending on size of net and your requirements.
These cargo nets are economical and quick to manufacture. The biggest drawback is a short lifespan. The twine used to make squares is about 3.2mm diameter. These are subject to abrasion and tearing. Although repairs can be done this is not recommended.

Rope Cargo Nets

Rope Cargo Nets are manufactured using Polysteel 3 strand rope. Mesh sizes are 4", 6" or 8" squares. Minimum diameter of Polysteel used is 1/4" (6 mm). Hardware supplied in the corners are 3 snap hooks and a pear ring.

Although a Rope Cargo Net is (about 55%) more expensive than a Premesh Cargo Net, you should realize approximately three times longer life. Using a larger diameter material will distribute the surface abrasion over a greater mass. Having a mesh size of 6" or 8" will cut the cost of of the net considerably. Larger mesh = Less labour and material.

Cargo Nets – Heavy Duty

All heavy duty underslung helicopter cargo nets are 8-sided, and vary in size from 16 ft X 16 ft to 24 ft X 24 ft depending on the specific model chosen. Nets come with an HD stow bag. Customized operational gear and net sizes are available on request.

Cargo Nets – Light Duty

All light duty underslung helicopter cargo nets are 8 sided, and vary in size from 12 ft X 12 ft to 18 ft X 18 ft depending on the specific model chosen. Nets come with an HD stow bag.

Endless Loop Sling

Type 5 endless loop slings are the strongest, most versatile, and least expensive slings for general usage available. They are simple in construction, consisting of an endless loop of webbing overlapped and sewn together. They have a wide variety of uses and hitch configurations. The slings are constructed of polyester webbing and have a longer operational life because the wear point revolves around the sling as it is repeatedly used.

Lead Lines

Our wire rope cargo lead lines are used between the helicopter cargo hook and the transported external cargo load.

Longline Protective Covers

Our longline protective covers ensure many years of service from synthetic longlines. The covers are designed for easy access to the longline. The top cover is secured to the top end of the synthetic longline. The main cover sections are attached to the top cover and protect the length of the longline.

Longline Shock Absorbers

Our EM series shock absorbers are designed to dampen the stresses created by shifting loads associated with longline work (such as chokered logs). As a result of reducing these damaging forces, airframe maintenance costs and pilot fatigue are reduced. The longline shock absorber consists of a nitrogen-charged main cylinder and one shock absorber cartridge to dampen any movement and prevent the piston from rotating.

Lanyards

Our rope lanyards are used between the helicopter cargo hook and the transported external cargo load. Our double braid composite rope lanyards are more aerodynamic than the flat webbing lanyards, and are more compact and lighter than wire rope lead lines. Our standard webbing lanyards are constructed of polyester webbing.

Remote Cargo Hook

The MS Series of remote cargo hooks are used to allow the helicopter pilot to remotely disconnect or jettison loads suspended beneath the helicopter. They have a simple design ensuring reliable operation day after day. Their rugged tubular steel guard protects the hook from the daily abuse of working in hostile environments.
